George Clooney was one of my all-time favorite guests during the initial run of Hollywood’s Master Storytellers. He was charming, articulate, insightful, and delightfully self-deprecating, often joking about how he “destroyed the Batman franchise” from the 1990s when his villainous co-star was Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze.
Normally Julia Roberts is such a big star that it would be hard to convince her (and her agent) to take on a supporting role like CIA agent/assassin Patricia Watson. But because of the friendship that developed between them during the filming of “Ocean’s Eleven,” he convinced her to do the role for a fraction of her normal rate. Onset, he also encouraged her to invent some interesting bits, as you’ll see in this clip.
