Why “The Aristocrats” Went Out Without An MPAA Rating

For those who haven’t seen it, “The Aristocrats” is all about an incredibly dirty joke. In fact, even though it’s essentially a talking heads movie, the language is so graphic that the AMC theater chain refused to run the movie and producers Paul Provenza and Penn Jillette anticipated the likelihood that, had the MPAA rated the movie, it would have been rated NC-17, as in “no one under 17 admitted at all.”

Here Paul and Penn discuss the ratings system and why they chose to distribute the movie unrated.

Warning: As with all the excerpts from our “Aristocrats” event, this clip contains graphic language that many may find offensive. It’s definitely not appropriate for those under 17 or people easily offended by profanity.
