It could be said that writer/director John Carpenter was a child of the movies. As he discussed in a different clip on our website, it all began with his father gave him a movie camera at the age of 8. As an alumnus of the world famous University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, he was exposed to movies made by some of the greatest directors of all time. In this excerpt from his conversation with former CNN entertainment reporter Dennis Michael, he talks about some of the filmmakers whose works influenced him the most – especially the legendary Howard Hawks.
