If you love the 1980 classic “female empowerment” film “9 To 5” and the Dolly Parton theme song, then rush to get your tickets for the stage musical version “9 To 5”- the Musical! playing in Long Beach at Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
This popular show is presented by the respected Musical Theatre West, and opens February 10th- February 26th, 2023. The iconic film stars Jane Fonda as Judy Bernly, Lily Tomlin as Violet Newstead, and Dolly Parton as Doralee Rhodes. Parton wrote the music and lyrics for the musical, and Patricia Resnick, who wrote the original story for the movie, wrote the book for this stage adaptation.
This MTW production features Daebreon Poiema as Violet, Madison Claire Parks as Doralee, and Ashley Moniz as Judy. They are the trio of office workers, who take the company into their own hands, in this hilarious adaptation of the beloved comedy classic. “9 To 5” -the Musical! is directed by Cynthia Ferrer.
